Change of perspective: challenges of organizing a hybrid event
At KTLC, we pride ourselves on being a platform for the entire translation and localization industry: freelancers, LSPs of all sizes, localization teams, cooperatives, translation studies researchers, QA and testing teams, copywriters, tech writers, medical writers, and everyone else working with languages. However, the challenge arises in maintaining this inclusivity when the conference is hybrid. Typically, onsite attendees engage with others at the venue, while online participants often find themselves isolated in front of their screens.
Meet Gridaly, our new platform
To address this, we have chosen an innovative platform called Gridaly, developed in Poland. Gridaly allows all conference attendees, including onsite and online participants, as well as speakers, exhibitors, and partners, to leverage features such as smart matching based on professional interests, managing attendee calendars for online and onsite meetings, providing detailed profiles to continue conversations even after the event wraps up, and much more.
Exciting networking
To further enhance onsite networking opportunities, we have partnered with the Warsaw Convention Bureau, the city’s hub for event organizers and service providers. Through this collaboration, we have secured the Golden Tulip Warsaw Centre hotel as the perfect conference venue. Additionally, we have organized guided tours of Warsaw’s must-see attractions on September 27, an exploration of the city’s dark side on September 29 (including a poster workshop and vodka tasting), and a riverboat cruise on the Vistula River on the afternoon of September 29. To top off the experience, for the networking dinners on 27 and 28 September, we personally selected nearby restaurants with the right ambiance, seating plans suitable for mingling, and delicious food and drinks to satisfy even the most discerning foodies.
